Malteurop Begins Organic Malt Production in France

Malteurop had announced it last autumn. Now it’s done: the Aire-sur-la-Lys malt house in northern France started producing organic malt at the beginning of 2020.

Organic products are a growth market in France in all sectors of the food and beverage industries. Beer is no exception to that trend on the French market. More than 300 French breweries now produce beers that are certified "organic agriculture", a figure that has been rising steadily in recent years.

The medium-term objective is to build a local barley supply chain in the northeast of France by establishing solid relationships with growers who convert their land to organic farming. Accompanying farmers is part of Malteurop’s DNA : Farmer-Maltsters.
