Châlons-en-Champagne Fair to take sustainability to a new level thanks to a skill-sharing partnership with VIVESCIA

Friday 8 July 2022, 16:13

VIVESCIA Group, a grain cooperative, is a longstanding partner of UCIA, the organiser of the Châlons-en-Champagne Fair, France’s second-largest agricultural and commercial fair. The Group has offered its assistance to the UCIA teams to help make this major event more eco-friendly and sustainable than ever before.

"We are proud of this model partnership with VIVESCIA which will enable us to progress, innovate and build the Châlons Fair of the future. This agreement marks the start of a new era. It is a force for change and the entire fair community stands to benefit from it," said Bruno Forget, Chairman of UCIA.

Valérie Frapier, VIVESCIA Group CSR director said:“At VIVESCIA, we have recently launched LINK, our new sustainable development policy, reinforcing and reaffirming our commitments and our link with our territories. As a long-standing partner of the Châlons-en-Champagne Fair, supporting the fair teams and extending our partnership through this skill-sharing agreement was a natural step. The fair is a major event on our Group’s calendar. It drives economic development in the local area and as such has a duty to lead the way in terms of sustainable event organisation. My CSR team and I are happy to be able to play a part in this.”

A natural extension to the well-established partnership between VIVESCIA and UCIA

Conscious of its prominent position in the French event sector, the importance of sustainability issues and the demanding requirements involved, UCIA put in place a first sustainability strategy for last year’s Châlons-en-Champagne Fair. These initial efforts were rewarded with a green event certification. With the next Fair just around the corner, VIVESCIA Cooperative Group and event organiser UCIA signed a CSR skill-sharing agreement on 9 June to take the event’s sustainability credentials up a gear. Concretely, VIVESCIA will volunteer its CSR team’s expertise and knowledge for several days a year to help UCIA to formulate and accelerate its sustainable development strategy for the fair. Skill-sharing will begin this year with the stated aim of making the 2023 Châlons-en-Champagne Fair a greener event.
